Write a cook book

This idea will develop knowledge and understanding of healthy eating and, by applying this knowledge in a real life context, young people will work in teams (as writers and publishing house) with the task of writing a cook book full of healthy and enjoyable recipes.

Broad Outcomes of learning

• Gained and enhanced subject knowledge of healthy eating, balanced diets and producing a book
• Enterprising skills improved by developing creativity, confidence, increasing motivation to learning; taking responsibility and making decisions; consideration of others through group work and discussion
• Developed employability skills: communication, planning, organisation, time management, researching, co-operating, contributing, sourcing, analysing, presenting, marketing, selling
• Confidence of working independently from teacher-led lessons demonstrated by working effectively as a group to produce a product.
• Learners take responsibility for their learning through making decisions about what should be included in the book, what curricular links are required and how it should be marketed.
• Learners have developed 4 capacities of CfE
