Working on the Clyde

Glasgow currently has growing employment with good prospects for jobs in a range of sectors. The city has a long history as a centre for commerce and service industries, and it is the service sector which is particularly bouyant at the moment.

The regeneration along the Clyde is contributing to the city's growth with new jobs being created in Glasgow's International Financial Service District. There are opportunities in the leisure and tourism sector too with the development of attractions and hotels along the riverside.

Traditional employers such as shipping management and shipbuilding are recruiting again, alongside newcomers such as new media and life sciences. With all these other developments, there are jobs in the construction industry as new offices, hotels and homes are built in the area.
