Clyde Waterfront Education

Sculpture at Clyde View Park

Public sculpture

This project will develop students’ k/u of sculptural processes by using Clyde architecture as a starting point to create an original work of art to win the chance to participate in a presentation to a local sculptor, local authority personnel and an exhibition at parents’ evening. Final presentations could be presented to a Clyde developer for judging purposes – pupils could get feedback.

Outcomes of learning

• Subject knowledge gained and enhanced e.g. the Expressive process, learning how to work three-dimensionally, learning how to create abstract form.
• Develop enterprise and employability skills: application of knowledge in a real situation by competing with others and by presenting finished artwork to whole class (selling your sculpture also relates to selling oneself in an interview situation).
• Pupils have developed enterprising skills identified as 4 capacities of CfE

Relevance to curriculum

• Supports 5-14 Art & Design studies, students will work with the visual elements: line, shape, form and colour
• How this subject knowledge is put into practice in a real situation by competing for a commission, could also discuss public art and it’s relevance to our environment/how do artists make their money
