Public mural inspired by the Clyde skyline
This project will develop students’ k/u of expressive processes by using the Clyde skyline as the subject matter for an original mural to participate in a presentation/competition to a local artist, local authority personnel and an exhibition at parents’ evening. Pupils will consider green issues by using recycled materials. Style used: collage/mosaic of recycled materials. Final presentations could be presented to a Clyde developer for recommending use – pupils request feedback.
Outcomes of learning
• Subject knowledge gained and enhanced e.g. the expressive process, learning how to grid up, collage etc
• Develop employability skills: planning, organisation, contributing, communication
• Pupils have developed enterprising skills identified as 4 capacities of CfE
Relevance to curriculum
• Supports 5-14 Art & Design studies, students will work with the visual elements: line, shape and colour
• How this subject knowledge is put into practice in a real situation by considering recycling and what impact this has on our environment; considering how the mural would fit into the environment of the Clyde and considering public art and its relevance to our environment
