A place to live and work

As many as 50,000 jobs can potentially be created as a result of our efforts over the 15 years of the regeneration project. As new businesses move in and employment opportunities emerge, we are determined that local people are properly equipped to win these jobs.

Re-training is vital and a range of support is available locally to make sure residents can exploit the new opportunities as they arise.

As new property is developed in the area, jobs are being created in the construction sector. Once built, businesses are relocating to these new buildings and looking for staff.

A number of riverside projects, such as the Galgael Trust, are helping local people to prepare for new opportunities.

In June 2006, The Scottish executive announced an action plan, Workforce Plus, aimed at helping 66,000 Scots off benefits and into work. Glasgow, Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire were all identified as target areas for this initiative, which is delivered through Jobcentre Plus, the Welfare to Work Forum and local projects such as the Lennox Trust in West Dunbartonshire.
