Housing along the Clyde

We are committed to investing in sustainable housing to meet local needs. The renewal of the waterfront is expected to create over 20,000 new homes. It is critical that they are integrated with existing communities to ensure urban cohesion. A proportion of these homes will be affordable homes for rent or shared equity purchase through the Homestake scheme. This has been achieved in the past through schemes such as the Crown Street initiative in the Gorbals.

better neighbourhoods
Working with our all partners, we have identified a programme of community regeneration action totalling more than £100 million over 20 - 25 years. This activity will ensure that neighbourhoods are engaged in the entire redevelopment process.

Our plans also need to take account of the historic buildings and public space along the river, using them imaginatively to benefit local residents and making the Clyde a safer, cleaner and more welcoming place to live.

Clyde Waterfront is a strategic partnership of the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Glasgow City Council, Renfrewshire Council and West Dunbartonshire Council.
