Greater Govan and Glasgow Harbour- living, learning, earning
The Clyde Waterfront regeneration plan represents significant opportunity for the Greater Govan area, which has a population of 25,500.
Through the transformation of the river, Greater Govan can ensure its future as a modern, dynamic inner city district, playing a major role in the business and cultural life of the Clyde waterfront.
The £1.2 billion Glasgow Harbour is a world class regeneration project which will spearhead the revitalisation of the North bank of the river in this area. The first phase of residential homes is largely complete, with phase two well underway.
On the south side the Central Govan Action Plan and the Govan Cross Townscape Heritage Initiative are major initiatives guiding the regeneration of Govan town centre.
Future plans include further residential developments, more than 1 million square feet of commercial development and a retail and leisure scheme.
At the core of the proposal is the integration and support of the Govan community. Partner organisations are working hard to ensure that that local residents benefit from the jobs and training opportunities arising from the new developments along the waterfront.
