Location

Description
The Clyde Arc, also known as the Finnieston Bridge or the 'squinty' bridge, is the first new surface level road bridge to cross the River Clyde since 1969 and is a key infrastructure component in the continued development of Pacific Quay.
The bridge design was selected in July 2002 following a design and build procurement process. It features a spectacular tied arch which forms an instantly recognisable gateway to the city.
The winning design, by Edmund Nuttall Ltd. complements and enhances the urban landscape, signalling Glasgow’s continued commitment to the regeneration of the Clyde Waterfront. The design makes provision for a four lane fixed bridge across the Clyde with two lanes dedicated to public transport and two for private and commercial traffic.
The bridge links Finnieston Street on the north bank to Govan Road/Pacific Drive on the south and radically improves accessibility to the Pacific Quay development area. The bridge, also featuring cycleways and pedestrian footpaths, is future-proofed to allow it to accommodate a Light Rapid Transit (LRT) system. Proposals for this are currently under development.
