Create a study guide for the Five Pillars of Islam

A creative approach to the Five Pillars of Islam. The first lesson is based around the PowerPoint and explores the centrality of the pillars to the Islamic faith. Pupils’ negotiation and speculation skills are developed, in addition to gaining subject knowledge. The remainder of the project involves pupils researching each Pillar in depth and producing a study guide containing their findings.

Outcomes of learning

• Subject knowledge gained and enhanced e.g. pupils will be able to describe what the Five Pillars are
• Pupils will be able to describe the ways in which each pillar is important to Muslims
• Enterprising skills improved by developing consideration of others through group discussion
• Developed employability skills: communication, contribution, negotiating and co-operation
• Pupils will produce a study guide about the Five Pillars of Islam
