The big picture
The Clyde Waterfront plan is based on development of approximately:
- 23,000 new homes
- 900,000m2 of office, retail, industrial and leisure space
This has the potential to create:
- more than 50,000 gross direct jobs
- more than 7,000 construction jobs.
The plan also brings significant additional spin-offs, such as:
- increased competitiveness of the city region and Scotland
- greater retention of talented people, leading to an enhanced skills base
- increased labour market accessibility, movement and integration
- a reduction in employment and economic inactivity
- increased social cohesion and inclusion, particularly in neighbouring communities
- improved mobility in the waterfront area and in surrounding areas
- re-use of large sections of derelict land
- contribution to the Scottish Executive’s social justice priorities
- creation of a vibrant tourism destination.
